What exactly is a Free Walking Tour?
The idea for the Free Walking Tour originated in Berlin. In 2004, a young tour guide wondered why so many tourists booked tours where they didn't know what to expect but had to pay a fixed price in advance. He suggested that participants should take the tour first and then decide what it was worth to them. This concept quickly spread throughout Europe, including to Bad Ragaz in 2022.
It all started with a beer...
Tour guide Peter is a seasoned traveler. In his younger years, he took city tours all over the world to get a first impression of his holiday destinateion. He quickly realized that the bus had already driven past the sights by the time he could get his camera ready. Or he was bombarded with names and numbers that he couldn't even remember the next day. Soon he descovered the new format of the free walking tour. One lively evening, he wondered whe there weren't any such tours in Bad Ragaz. The answer quickly became clear: " Because nobody does them...". And so the free walking tour in Bad Ragaz was born, and TourRagaz started.
